Police in Malindi have arrested two men for killing their brother in broad daylight in Sabaki Ward, KilifI on Wednesday.

The two murdered their brother on grounds that he belonged to a secret society ‘Illumiati’ and was involved in the death of their mother.

A the time of the incident, the victim was asked to confess and conduct some rituals at their mother’s graveyard but he refused and tried to flee.

His brothers chase after him and attacked him with pangas until he died.

They then dismembered his body and stashed the parts in a bag before fleeing the scene.

Witnesses revealed that the men travelled to Msabaha Village where their brother resided and forcefully ferried him to Mabaoromokoni in Sabaki village where their mother is buried.

“His brothers picked him at his residence in Msabaha, forced him to board a motorcycle and took him to their home village in Maboromokoni to conduct some rituals at their mother’s grave,” A police officer said.

The police have urged the people in the community to settle their disputes in more humane way and ask for help instead of taking matters into their own hands.

“There are institutions and people in the community who can help settle such disputes, including the church and village elders. If you feel these cannot help, you can seek assistance from the courts of law.” the police said.
