Poor logistics causes Shujaa to miss out on Dubai 7 fixtures

Kenya Rugby Union KRU pulled out the Kenya men’s and women rugby 7s teams Shujaa and Kenya Lionesses from participating the 1st leg of the World Rugby Series the Dubai 7s which kicks off on December 1st to 3rd.

The Union chairman Alexander Mutai in a statement late Thursday indicated that the team will not appear for the invitational category of the Dubai 7s due to logistical challenges.

“We regret to inform you that the Kenya Sevens men and women national squads will not be able to honour their fixtures at the 2023 Dubai 7s.“Stated Kenya KRU chairman Alexander Mutai

“The teams were slated to play in the International Invitational Category in Dubai.

“Unfortunately, logistical challenges have negatively impacted their travel itinerary, rendering the trip to Dubai impossible at this point in time.”

The two teams were supposed to leave for Dubal on Wednesday for the invites only fixture where Shujaa was to take on R10C Select, Wailers and Speranza in pool C.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Lionesses where slated to play against Ireland Invitational, Rhino Stompers, USA falcons and the French Militarie Sevens in Pool B.
