The Kenya men’s Rugby Sevens team, Shujaa, will make their highly anticipated return to the HSBC SVNS series when the 2025 season kicks off this November.
Shujaa reclaimed its core status by triumphing over Germany with a 33-15 victory in the 2024 Challenger Series final held in Madrid on June 2, 2024.
Following the rugby sevens’ celebrated debut at the Olympic stage in Paris, World Rugby has announced the first five destinations and dates for the much-awaited HSBC SVNS 2025 series, with more events to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
The series will commence with the Emirates Dubai Sevens from November 30 to December 1, 2024, at The Sevens Stadium. The second round will occur at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town on December 7-8, 2024.
Joining the series alongside Shujaa and Uruguay as returning core teams are defending champions Argentina, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, France, Fiji, South Africa, Great Britain, USA, and Spain.
The five confirmed tournaments for the 2025 season are:
- Dubai Sevens – November 30 – December 1, 2024
- Cape Town Sevens – December 7-8, 2024
- Perth Sevens – January 24-26, 2025
- Vancouver Sevens – February 21-23, 2025
- Hong Kong Sevens – March 28-30, 2025
World Rugby has stated that advanced discussions with additional host destinations are ongoing, and details of further SVNS 2025 events, including the Grand Final, will be confirmed in due course.
