Siaya county gov’t staff mysteriously disappears while on duty

Police have launched investigations into the mysterious disappearance of a staff of the Siaya County Government.

Nicholas Ooro went missing while on duty at the county revenue offices on Monday, February 26 night.

The visibly torn uniform and a beret believed to be those of Ooro, who worked as an enforcement officer, were discovered within the premises on Tuesday, February 27.

Confirming the incident, Siaya County Secretary Joseph Ogutu called for calmness even as investigations continue. Ogutu called on members of the public who may have information on his whereabouts to report to any police stations near them.

The family of Nicholas Ooro, an enforcement officer at Siaya County Gov’t, led by his wife Mary Auma, want police to investigate thoroughly the mysterious disappearance of their kin.

His whereabouts is yet to be established to date. His family, led by his wife Mary Auma, says the don’t have any information so far. They knew of Ooro’s missing when a colleague went looking for him at his home in Rarieda Sub-County.

Auma told journalists that his 37-year-old husband left home on the evening of Monday 26th February and reported to work in Siaya town but had not returned until that time that his colleagues came to look for him.

Family in agony

The enforcement officer’s elder sister Caroline Atieno adds that they were informed that the matter was discovered by the officer who had gone to take over from Ooro on Tuesday morning.

This prompted them to travel to the county headquarters where she says that they met the County Secretary and were informed that the matter had been reported to the police who have already launched investigations.

His mother Dorine Adoyo and nephew David Omondi stated that they have tried searching for their kin but have not been able to get any proper lead on his possible whereabouts.

They have, therefore, pleaded with the police to help them trace him so that they can find and bring him back home.
