After the plight of a bright girl from Siaya who got a form one placement at Lenana School a Boys’ high school finally reached the top officials, Siaya sub-county education board chaired by Deputy County Commissioner Robert Ng’etich rushed to save the situation.
Now 14-year old Gloria Adhiambo Owino managed a 389 mark in last years KCPE becoming the top student at Nyalgunga primary school in Alego/Usonga sub-county, can now breath easy after she secured a form one placement at Ng’iya Girls’ High School in Siaya county.
Speaking at Ng’iya Girls High School in Siaya during the admission process the ministry’s representative Alego/Usonga sub-county Director of Education Maurice Saka stated that the issues that led to the confusion has been sorted out.
Also the schools Head Teacher Hellen Juma reveled that after hearing of Gloria’s plight her office made an official request to have the ministry of Education to allow the student to be absorbed by the school.
“I have placed a request to the ministry, which I know will be approved, so that this girl can be absorbed in Ng’iya Girls. I want to believe that everything will be put in place so that this girl can continue her education here,” she said.
Gloria and her parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude following the new development.
However, the biggest headache is how Gloria’s Parents will raise her school fees , given the family’s financial status. Her parents Her father Fredrick Owino and mother Margaret Awuor have since reached out to well wishers to help raise funds for school fees.
