Simmering row as tea farmers accuse KTDA directors of engaging in 2027 political succession

A section of Tea Farmers in Embu County have raised a red flag on KTDA directors, accusing them of using their positions to advance political interests in the 2027 election campaigns and political succession.

Speaking in Kianjokoma Market, Runyenjes Constituency in Embu County, the farmers expressed concerns that the tea sector that is doing well might collapse if the directors continue politicking at the expense of the business.

They raised queries on a number of issues they feel are not going on well, ranging from dividends and deductions meant for construction of a power station.

They farmers are also calling on a lifestyle audit of all directors stating that some have amassed un explained wealth since assuming office.

The farmers raised concern of conflict of interest claiming of the appointment of a relative to a director as an auditor at Rukuriri factory.

At the same time another group supporting the current directors defended their work, saying that they had delivered what they had promised to the farmers.
