Despite no longer being a couple, Wilson and Wilbourn maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship.

Christmas, however, was the last thing on Wilson’s mind in the tumultuous months following Wilbourn’s death.

Juggling the responsibilities of single parenthood for Donald Jr., 5, Poetry, 4, and Honesty, 1, left Wilson in a state of day-to-day survival.

Wilson has faced financial hardships leading him to rely on emergency food pantries for sustenance.

Colin McConnell, Wilson’s downstairs neighbour and a 48-year-old TikTok producer, noticed the shift in the children’s living arrangements.

Former strangers, Wilson and McConnell, connected when McConnell observed Wilson in a moment of overwhelming sadness.

In a rare display of vulnerability, Wilson opened up about his struggles to McConnell.

McConnell, feeling the weight of Wilson’s loneliness, mobilized his TikTok followers.

In turn, he received overwhelming support, beyond expectations.

Further, an Amazon wish list was shared, leading to a global outpouring of gifts, including toys, clothes, food, gift cards, and cash.
