Six found guilty of killing former MP George Thuo to be sentenced today

Six people convicted in the murder of former Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Thuo will be sentenced today by Judge Roselyn Korir.

The six are; Paul Wanaina Boiyo alias Sheki, Christopher Lumbazio Andika alias Lumba, Andrew Karanja Wainaina, Samuel Kuria Ngungi alias Visi, Esther Ndinda Mulinge, and Ruth Watahi Irungu alias Atlanta.

The Milimani High Court found in April this year that the six conspired to kill the late Thuo at Club Porkies in Kiambu County in 2013 by poisoning his drink with cyhalothrin insecticide.

During the case’s proceedings on May 28, 2024, the prosecution urged the court to impose maximum sentences on the suspects, stating that they should not be allowed clemency because they showed no remorse in committing the crime.

Thuo’s wife, Judy Thuo, informed the court that he was in wonderful health prior to the fateful meeting with the six persons who ended his life.

“I know there is forgiveness and I know this is a just court… but it is the life and blood of a human being. It shouldn’t be that somebody can kill someone and be set free,” Judy said.

The judge stated that the evidence presented was sufficient and not predicated on suspicion and that the prosecution had proven its case against the six.

She concurred with medical records indicating that poisoning-related hemorrhagic gastroenteritis was the cause of Thuo’s death.
