Size 8 Reborn: “Bahati is a prayer warrior and a prophet”

Size 8 Reborn, a name synonymous with faith and resilience, has walked a path marked by profound challenges and miraculous triumphs.

From her days as a secular artist to her rebirth as a gospel singer and pastor, her journey is a testament to the power of faith and perseverance.

On Bahati’s Empire which premiered on Netflix on 7th June, Size 8 opened up about her difficult experiences, especially her journey to motherhood.

While counselling Bahati to do better for his wife, she reminded him how much of a prayer warrior he was and how that seemed like centuries ago.

She reminded him he was God’s child and that he needed to find his way back to the altar.

Size 8, whose real name is Linet Munyali, recalls a time when she was close to Bahati, a fellow artist.

Bahati once called her and spoke of miscarriages she would suffer and how God would restore her.

I remember in 2013 God spoke to you concerning the devil’s agenda to make sure I don’t have kids through miscarriages and you told me, ‘Size 8 REBORN omba omba sana.’ And I took the word prophet and I bless God I now have 2 kids,” she stated.

At the time, she hadn’t experienced any such tragedies, but his words would soon echo in her reality.

Her first pregnancy was a rollercoaster.

Size 8 faced severe complications due to pre-eclampsia, a condition causing dangerously high blood pressure. At 36 weeks, she had an emergency cesarean section because her blood pressure shot up to 167.

Her son, Muraya Jr., was born amidst these difficulties, a miracle in the face of daunting odds.

Despite the presence of fibroids and her high blood pressure, God’s power overshadowed all these challenges, and her son was born healthy.

However, the road was far from smooth. Her second pregnancy ended in a loss at just 12 weeks due to a blighted ovum.

“The doctors could not find its heartbeat. The baby had stopped growing.”

Undeterred, Size 8 tried again. But this pregnancy was fraught with complications from the start. At just two months, she was put on total bed rest due to an acute stroke.

Yet, tragedy struck again. Size 8 lost her fourth pregnancy, a stillbirth she had nicknamed Peace. This loss brought her to the brink of her death.

Facing life-threatening surgery, she clung to the hope of seeing her two surviving children one last time.

After the surgery, she was monitored closely in the high-dependency unit. Size 8 remembers pleading with God, begging for her life so she could be there for her children.

Breaking the news to her firstborn daughter about the loss of her sibling was one of the hardest moments. “My daughter thought I had gone to deliver and when we got home, she rushed to the car asking to see the baby…seeing her in that situation broke my heart,” she shared.

The ordeal also deeply affected her husband, DJ Mo, who masked his pain to remain strong for the family.
