Former prime minister, Raila Odinga should pull out of the Kenyans politics and concentrate on his quest to become the Africa Union Commission chair, Gem Member of Parliament, Elisha Ochieng Odhiambo has said.
Odhiambo at the same time challenged the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leadership to restrain itself from partisan politics that may negative affect Raila’s quest for the continental job, adding that the opposition party must embrace everybody who can positively contribute to the former premier’s success.
Speaking at Onding’ primary school grounds in East Gem location, Siaya county during the installation of the Uranga sub location assistant chief, Vitalis Otunga, the legislator said that it was high time Raila lives to his commitment to leave the ODM party leadership in the hands of former governors Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya and concentrate his energies on the quest for the continental job.
“If there is any time that ODM needs to restrain itself is this time” said the MP adding that the party must work together with leaders from across the political divide who have the capacity of influencing the success of the former premier’s success in his quest for the Africa Union commission post.
Odhiambo who said that he had confidence that Raila has all the competencies that are requisite for the job said that president William Samoei Ruto had already committed himself to support the campaign.
The Gem legislator at the same time announced that he will be vying for the ODM secretary general’s post during the party’s national elections slated for April this year.
He said that his quest for the position was out of the desire to instil discipline and order in the party so as to make it the best political outfit that would wrestle leadership from United Democratic Alliance by 2032.
Addressing the occasion, Gem Yala deputy county commissioner, Evans Otieno who presided over the installation ceremony called on the national administration officers to serve all Kenyans diligently in the course of their work.
Otieno said each administrator must be fair and accountable in his or her work and appealed to the public to accord national government administrative officers support to succeed in their work.
