Social Health Authority(SHA) update on claims payment

The social health authority(SHA) has released an update on the status of payment of claims for October 2024, which marks one month since the roll out of the program in September.

The hospitals submit over 1.6 billion worth of SHA claims in the first month.As of November 6, 2024;

In accordance with their promise to ensure uninterrupted service delivery, the SHA has successfully disbursed over Ksh 1.36billion, which represents more than 52% of the total claims value for the month.

In October, 2,382 hospitals submitted 217,700 claims amounting to Ksh 2.6 billion. To date, they have paid 53,554 claims, benefiting 1,195 hospitals.

The remaining 164,146 claims, valued at approximately Ksh 1.2billion, are currently undergoing the necessary verification process, which confirms the validity and services provided.

The stage involves 1,187 hospitals and is progressing smoothly, with the SHA expecting to complete the outstanding payments by the end of next week.

The SHA is encouraging healthcare providers with queries related to the October claims processing and payments to contact their nearest SHA branch, send an email to [email protected], or call the toll-free number 0800 720 601 for guidance.

The SHA has assured healthcare providers that it remains committed to maintaining open lines of communication and providing the necessary support to ensure a seamless claims process.

To continue to enhance the operational process, the SHA is focusing on improving turnaround times and delivering excellent service.
