Manchester United has successfully secured a deal with Fiorentina for the acquisition of midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. The agreement entails United paying €10m to take Amrabat on loan with a subsequent option to buy the player for €25m.
The Serie A side were for a permanent move for the Morocco international but United were afraid of breaching Financial Fair Play regulations. This loan structure aligns with the Red Devils’ commitment to adhere to the regulation.
To finalize the deal, United’s director of football negotiations, Matt Hargreaves, has flown to Italy, signifying the club’s dedication to securing Amrabat’s services.
The 27-year-old midfielder has expressed a strong desire to join Manchester United, and his absence from Fiorentina’s first-team training sessions underscored the uncertainty surrounding his future.
His absence from Fiorentina’s squad during Thursday’s Europa Conference League play-off second leg against Rapid Vienna further fuelled speculation regarding his impending move.
The transfer saga which has been closely monitored throughout the summer, now appears to be nearing its conclusion as heads to England for a medical examination.
Amrabat’s impending arrival at Manchester United marks the club’s fifth signing of the summer, following the earlier announcement of Altay Bayindir’s addition.
His inclusion will provide valuable reinforcement to the midfield, a priority for manager Erik ten Hag, especially in light of Mason Mount’s recent injury, as the Red Devils gear up for the upcoming season.
Amrabat, who played a pivotal role in Morocco’s historic World Cup run to the semi-finals in Qatar, garnered global recognition for his exceptional performances.
