Sony unveils Playstation game controllers for disabled gamers

Business

Sony,Playstation’s parent company has announced that they will launch a new PlayStation controller in December, designed to make gaming easier for people with disabilities.

This comes at the back of criticism that the company has for many years only introduced products for abled bodied people neglecting people living with disabilities despite being consumers of the same product.

The typical controllers for the PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo can be challenging, if not impossible, to use for persons with limited movement, which makes playing video games a problem for people with impairments.

A community that already experiences social isolation at a far higher rate than the overall population may also become even more isolated if they are unable to continue playing their favorite games.

Sony has created the Access controller for the PlayStation with feedback from Lane and other accessibility consultants as part of the gaming industry’s efforts to solve the issue.

Companies like Microsoft, startups, and even 3D printer enthusiasts actively support the most recent entry in the market for accessible controllers.
