South C Rangers and Nairobi Starlets clinch Bronze in Sakaja Super Cup

South C Rangers and Nairobi Starlets secured third-place honors in the 2024 Sakaja Super Cup, the tournament’s second edition, following thrilling matches at Dandora Stadium today, Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Rangers Edge Shauri Moyo United

South C Rangers claimed the bronze medal in the boys’ category with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Shauri Moyo United. The match was a tense affair, showcasing the skill and determination of both sides.

Shauri Moyo United had earlier impressed by pushing defending champions Githurai All Stars to the limit in the Nairobi East Finals on Wednesday, setting the stage for a competitive third-place playoff. South C Rangers, however, proved their mettle, earning the Ksh 1 million prize money for third place.

Starlets Shine Bright

In the girls’ category, Nairobi Starlets from Kangemi, Westlands Sub-County, dominated Soweto Starlets from Kayole, Embakasi Central, with a resounding 6-0 victory. The one-sided match highlighted Nairobi Starlets’ prowess and determination to leave their mark on the tournament.

Grand Finale Showdowns

The tournament now shifts focus to the highly anticipated grand finale matches tomorrow, Friday, December 20, 2024, at Dandora Stadium.

  • Ladies’ Category: Shrink Park from Kasarani will face South C Queens, promising a competitive and thrilling encounter.
  • Boys’ Category: In a rematch of the 2023 final, Kawasaki Sports Club from South B will take on defending champions Githurai All Stars (GAS). Githurai All Stars emerged victorious in last year’s final, and Kawasaki will be keen to avenge that defeat.

The stakes are high, with the boys’ category champions set to take home Ksh 3 million, while the runners-up will earn Ksh 2 million.

Celebrating Grassroots Talent

The Sakaja Super Cup Season Two concludes tomorrow with a showcase of grassroots football talent, embodying the spirit of community and sportsmanship. The tournament has grown into a significant platform for nurturing young players and uniting Nairobi’s diverse communities through football.

Fans can expect an electric atmosphere at Dandora Stadium as the city’s best teams compete for glory.
