Manchester United painted the city of Manchester red after a comfortable 2-0 against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City at Etihad Stadium. The win ended Manchester City's 21 consecutive wins in all competition's.

Gabriel Jesus fouled Anthony Martial in the 18-yard box in the first minute prompting centre referee Antony Taylor to award the 20-times premier league champions a penalty. Bruno Fernandes made no mistake converting.

City's record signing, Rodri almost equalized for the home side just after the break with his shot glancing off the angle of post and bar. Luke Shaw sealed United's bragging rights in the 53rd minute, firing in a low shot past City goalkeeper Ederson.

Solid defense by United centre half ensured Ole Gunnar Solskjear's men went home with all the three points.

Manchester United had recorded three straight barren draws in all competition's heading to the 185 Manchester derby. The win leaves United on a 22 league matches unbeaten run.

The loss cuts City's lead at the top of the table to just 11 points with 10 matches to go.

Elsewhere, Liverpool suffered their six straight league home defeat with a 1-0 loss at the hands of newly-promoted Fulham FC. Mario Lemina fired Fulham in front right at the end of the first half.

Wasteful Mo Salah and Diego Jota failed to convert Liverpool's chances. The reds had been unbeaten in 65 home matches before Burnley ended the run in January this year.
