Mbappe breaks Thiery Henry's Champions League record as PSG end Bayern Munich unbeaten run

French forward, Kylian Mbappe has broken former Arsenal and Barcelona legend, Thiery Henry's champions league knock out stage career goals following his brace against Bayern Munich.

Henry, former French captain and Mbappe's country man had 12 goals in the champions league knock out stages, a record Mbappe has broken at the age of 22.

Mbappe gave Paris Saint Germain (PSG) the lead only three minutes into the game finishing a sweet counter attack composed by Neymar Jr. PSG captain, Marquinhos doubled the lead for the French champions capitalizing on a poor defending by Bayern.

Cameroon international, Eric Choupo Moting pulled one back for the Champions League defending champions. Half time tea talk seamed to work for Bayern after Thomas Muller leveled the terms in the 60th minute before Mbappe completed his brace to give PSG the win eight minutes later.

Mbappe's double, which took his tally to eight goals in as many Champions League games this season saw him get to 31 goals in all competitions this season.

David Alaba came close to equalizing when his measured shot clipped the outside of the post as PSG clung on for a precious advantage heading into the second leg.

The win for last seasons runner's up, PSG, ended Bayern Munich's 19-match unbeaten Champions League run. The two sides shall meet again in the second leg on April 13,2021.

Chelsea mounts serious challenge

Elsewhere, Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell strikes helped Chelsea bounce back to winning ways after hammering Portuguese side, FC Porto 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter final.

The goals were their first ever Champions League goals for the two English men. Having won at Atletico Madrid in February, Chelsea have now won consecutive away knockout games in the Champions League for the first time since April 2004 under Claudio Ranieri.
