Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy was on Tuesday, September 13 found not guilty in one rape case against a 19-year-old woman.

The 28-year-old who is facing seven more sexual offenses was acquitted of the charge under the direction of a judge at the Chester Crown Court trial.

His co-accused Louis Saha Matturie, 41, was also cleared of the two counts of rape and one of sexual assault against the same woman after the prosecution offered no further evidence against the two.

While acquitting the two, Judge Stephen Everett warned jurors not to speculate as to why the prosecution had decided not to pursue guilty verdicts.

In the case, the woman had alleged that on July 24, 2021, after a night out clubbing, she awoke at Mendy’s house only to find him raping her.

The victim - referred to as 'Woman Seven' - had further alleged that on August 1, 2021, Mattuire sexually assaulted her for a second time at a flat in Salford after clubbing at China White nightclub in Manchester.

She had 'consensual, enthusiastic sex'

However, Matturie's lawyers denied the reports saying what happened was "consensual and enthusiastic sex" and not rape.

Wilding continued: "When you and he had sex … you and he filmed that sex. You know that you and he had a discussion beforehand, words to the effect, 'Let's make our own little movie'."

The witness replied: “No. I wouldn’t do that.”

Wilding said: “He had his phone right in front of you all the time you and he were having sex.” The woman replied: “I was not aware of that.”

Wilding said: “You looked directly at the camera more than once, enjoying what you were doing?” The woman, who became tearful, replied: "No."
