St Paul’s University lecturer arrested over alleged child sexual abuse

St Paul’s University Lecturer Mr Joseph William Black Jr has been arrested over the charges of child sexual abuse.

The 64-year-old was found with 14 nude photos and 1 video of minors aged 14 and 15 on his laptop.

Black Jr was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airpot (JKIA) while attempting to flee.

This was after the Children’s rights officer was informed by the US government that Black Jr was wanted in the USA to face charges of sexual assault of minors.

Black Jr is allegedly said to have shared and traded the pornographic video and images against the minor’s consent on Skype and Microsoft online platforms.

The US government had gathered information and learned that he was living and working in Kenya and thereafter liaised with the DCI to have him arrested, prosecuted, and then repatriated to the USA to also face justice.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Child Rights and Protection Mr. Wycliffe Jefwa presented the nude images and video of Caucasian children recovered from Black Jr.’s laptop to Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondiek.

Mr. Wycliffe Jefwa presented the court with a graphic account of how the police raided the Bishop Makarios Seminary Riruta Satellite in Nairobi where they searched before arresting him.

“At the time, Joseph Wiliam Black Jr was located in Kenya where he resided in a seminary and it was suspected that he was abusing other boys,” Jefwa said.

Black Jr, however, denied the charges and is out on bond.
