Paul Mwangemi, the acting secretary of Civil Registration Services, did not explain the circumstances under which the registration documents were lost.

“The department hereby cautions the general public that the said Birth Certificates have been cancelled thereby rendering them invalid. Any person(s) who may have been issued with any certificate bearing the above serial number is advised to return it/them to the secretary Civil Registration Service, 4th floor, Hass Plaza, Lower Hill,” the Notice read.

The State emphasized that authorities are working to ensure that all individuals impacted by this loss can receive new, valid birth certificates.

This move aims to safeguard the integrity of civil records and prevent potential fraudulent activities using the lost documents.
