Bumula member of parliament (MP) Jack Wamboka has told Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi to avoid blaming his ex-wife, Maryanne Kitany for his impeachment saga.
Wamboka told the 11-member special committee on Wednesday May 8, 2024, that it was unfortunate for Linturi to link his impeachment to his former wife, who is also Aldai MP Maryanne Kitany.
“I have looked at the responses by the CS and it is nothing short of a love letter by a jilted lover,” he said.
Wamboka added that the matters being raised against Linturi were very serious and should not be reduced to love matters.
At the same time, the Bumula MP urged Linturi to accept that he is no longer in a relationship with his former wife and move on.
“Ukiachwa achika,” said Wamboka.
In addition, the Bumula MP advised Linturi to respect his ex-wife and allow her to proceed with her life.
“In serious democracies, CS Linturi should have resigned by now. The vote that happened in Parliament showed no confidence in the CS and it has consequences,” said the Bumula MP.
This was after MPs on May 2, 2024 approved a motion of impeachment against Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi.
During the Thursday morning session, 149 MPs voted in support of Linturi’s impeachment, 36 opposed while three abstained.
Consequently, an 11-member committee was formed to investigate the matter and file a report within ten days.
