Former West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has raised concerns over the rise of ethnic divisive politics and political rivalry.
Warning that they are derailing development projects and disrupting service delivery in West Pokot County and across the country.
Speaking during a development tour in West Pokot County, Lonyangapuo lamented that
Propaganda and political interference have negatively impacted national, county, and constituency projects, further worsening financial challenges in key sectors.
“The progress of our counties and constituencies is at risk because of unnecessary political conflicts. Leaders must put aside their differences and focus on development,” he stated.
His remarks come at a time when the country is witnessing an increasing political rift, with leaders forming rival alliances, further heightening tensions at both the county and national levels.
Lonyangapuo emphasized that constant political wrangles not only slow down progress but also undermine public confidence in leadership.
He urged leaders to shift their focus towards improving infrastructure, education, and healthcare instead of engaging in endless political battles.
“People elected leaders to bring development, not to fight over power and positions. It’s time for unity and action,” he added.
His plea resonates with many Kenyans who have expressed frustration over stalled projects and poor service delivery, often attributed to political infighting.
As the political landscape continues to shift, Lonyangapuo’s call for unity and development-driven leadership serves as a wake-up call for politicians to put the needs of the people first.
