“Stop lecturing us!” MP Wamuchomba slams Governor Waiguru amid Mt Kenya political battle

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has launched a scathing attack against Anne Waiguru, over what she says is the Kirinyaga Governor trying to control what Mt Kenya politicians should and should not speak about.

The lawmaker took offense on what she says is Governor Waiguru trying to lecture Mt Kenya politicians on what they should speak about. She says that Waiguru doesn’t have the capacity to lecture politicians.

“You are the Chair of Council of Governors sitting pretty as we struggle with the rising economic stress, closing businesses, alcoholism and neglect of projects by Kenya Kwanza regime which you are now defending online,” Wamuchomba said on Wednesday, May 22.

This comes even as succession politics on who should take over as Mt Kenya political kingpin rages on. A section of politicians from the vote-rich region support Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to take over the mantle from retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, while others are against that.

Last week, Governor Waiguru ridiculed the conveners of Limuru III, saying the politicians who attended the meeting are idle and lack sense of direction.

But according to Wamuchomba, Waiguru has remain mum on issues that affect the Mt Kenya electorate, and therefore should not lecture anyone.

Wamuchomba: ‘Tell us why…’

“Before you lecture us; please tell us as COG chair why are our coffee farmers not receiving cherry fund at KSh80 per kg as agreed during the coffee forums. Why are our people being fired in Government as you watch? Why are we importing milk from other countries yet our farmers are struggling to get their milk to processors? What happened to Kenol-Marua Road completion? What happenned to Mau mau roads completion? What happened to Ruiru 2 dam construction?”

Wamuchomba advised Governor Waiguru to use the ongoing trip to the U.S, in which she is among the delegates accompanying President William Ruto, to lobby for foreign funding that will complete projects in the region.

“Now that you are in USA with the presidential jet enjoy the ride quietly but ask those wazungu to give you money to complete our projects na sio LOANS! And by the way here at home we are speaking the language of One Man One Shilling while you are away. Prepare to either Join us or [shut up].”
