Students among 22 passengers, injured in a head-on collision along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway

At least 22 people have sustained injuries following an accident involving a van and a matatu in the Karai area near Keroche along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

St John Ambulance Service who broke the news stated that most of those injured in the collision were students who were heading to school for the first term.

“22 passengers, many of them students have sustained injuries when a matatu they were travelling in collided head-on with a van at Karai area near Keroche along the Nrb-Nkr Highway. The casualties received on-site First Aid and were taken to Naivasha Referral Hospital.”

The accidents come a day after 15 people lost their lives on Tuesday morning in a road accident at the Twin Bridge area along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

According to a report from the National Police Service (NPS), the fatal accident occurred at 2:45 am on Tuesday.

The carnage involved a bus belonging to Classic Kings of Congo and North Ways Shuttle Toyota matatu.

Police officers attached to Mau Summit Police Station rushed to the scene alongside medics to address the situation.

It is reported that the injured were rushed to Molo Sub-County Hospital, while the deceased’s bodies were transferred to the hospital’s mortuary.

NPS urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads, particularly at this time when students are resuming school.
