A recent survey by LonLyf, a London-based lifestyle research company, found that over 75% of men remain loyal to their barbers than to their partners.
The study, conducted between September 2024 and January 2025, revealed that 60% of men stick with the same barber for years.
Some respondents stated that their childhood barbers still groom their hair, maintaining a long-term grooming relationship.
Others admitted traveling back to their old neighborhoods just to get a haircut from their trusted barber.
The survey also found that many men find switching barbers not just inconvenient but unsettling and stressful.
Why Are men so loyal to their barbers?
Several factors contribute to this unwavering loyalty, including consistent service, trust, and a personalized grooming experience.
A trusted barber understands their clients’ preferences, ensuring a reliable and satisfying haircut every visit.
“About 45% said they avoid new barbers because they dislike explaining their preferred hairstyle repeatedly,” the report noted.
Additionally, 30% of respondents revealed they don’t trust new barbers, fearing poor results and disappointing haircuts.
Barbershops also provide a space for social connection, where men engage in deep conversations with their barbers.
Many men view their barbers as confidants, strengthening the emotional bond and reinforcing their loyalty.
Comparing loyalty in romantic relationships
Interestingly, men’s loyalty to barbers contrasts with trends seen in romantic relationships and commitment patterns.
Research suggests that 70% of divorces are initiated by women, while men tend to hold onto relationships longer.
Experts believe men value consistency and emotional security, influencing both their romantic and grooming choices.
