Super Metro’s Statement

It stated that it aims to facilitate timely airport access for commuters from Nairobi directly to the National Airport.

Notably, the company is set to employ electric buses for this new route, with plans to introduce more modern vehicles to its fleet.

The statement from Super Metro mentioned, “Soon, we’ll be introducing a fleet of electric buses and expanding our 7th Generation NQR series.

The statement went on to say “The route will be serving passengers directly from the CBD to JKIA.”

The routes under Metro

The transport company traditionally operates near the Nairobi Archives area, catering to passengers travelling along Waiyaki Way and Thika Road.

Additionally, the company has not yet clarified whether the buses will utilize Mombasa Road or access the Nairobi Expressway.

Once the free ride promotion concludes, commuters can anticipate the release of fare pricing for this new route.

Currently, most matatu operators charge between Ksh50 and Ksh70 for the journey from the CBD to JKIA.

The estimated travel time for this route is approximately 20 to 30 minutes under normal traffic conditions.

However, with the Nairobi Expressway in operation, this journey could be significantly reduced to as little as 12 minutes.

In brief, Super Metro could be on the verge of taking the major first step of making transportation in Nairobi efficient.
