On Monday, March 4, a video surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) showing a driver of a Super Metro bus making a dangerous U-turn on Thika Superhighway.
In the undated video, the minibus can be seen idling on the wrong side of the highway before making the turn, and driving against traffic.
The video elicited angry reactions from Kenyans expressing their disappointment on a matatu Sacco that is known for having discipline fleet operators (drivers and conductors).

Kenyans on X
“Supermetro misbehaving on the road? In broad daylight? I’ve seen it all!” An X user commented.
Sir Lewis said, “Super Metro nowadays is like any other SACCOs. Their services have declined. How could anyone in their right mind drive in the wrong direction on a highway where vehicles reach speeds of up to 120 kph?”
Another user, Ruth Atieno, opined, “Yaani ata Super Metro wameanza tabia za nganya? But knowing how strict the Sacco is, this driver is definitely headed for a disciplinary hearing!”
Super Metro responds
The Sacco has since responded to the incident, indicating that the rogue driver was apprehended by the company’s inspectors.
“He was submitted to Central Police Station then later picked by Pangani Police where the incident was report[ed] and from there, will be arraigned in court… Thank you for your continued support,” the company said on its X handle.
