The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled against the Trump administration’s attempt to halt $2 billion in U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) payments.
Further siding with a lower court’s decision that the funds must reach their intended recipients.

Divided ruling
In a 5-4 vote, the justices upheld the ruling by U.S. District of Columbia District Judge Amir Ali,.
They requested clarification on his original order due to the deadline for compliance having already passed.
The Trump administration had sought to block the payments and initially won a temporary stay.
But the Supreme Court ultimately struck it down, delivering a setback to the president’s legal efforts.
Legal battle far from over
Despite the ruling, legal experts suggest that the Trump administration may still have a path to victory.
