The Supreme Court of Kenya has announced its August recess, which will commence on Thursday, August 1, 2024, and terminate on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
“The Supreme Court August recess will commence on Thursday, August 1, 2024, and terminate on Sunday, September 15, 2024, both days inclusive,” Koome said.
This recess is in accordance with Article 163 (1a) of the Constitution of Kenya, and section 6 of the Supreme Court Act, 2011, as well as Rules 4, 5, and 7 of the Supreme Court Rules, 2020.
During the recess period, the Supreme Court Registry will remain open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on all weekdays, excluding public holidays.
This ensures that the public continues to have access to the court’s services, even as the Justices take a much-needed break.
A duty judge will be available to handle any urgent matters that may arise during the recess. This measure is in place to ensure that the judicial process continues to function smoothly, even in the absence of the full bench of the Supreme Court.
