The Multinational Security Support team and the Haitian National Police have ordered gang leader Jimmy Barbecue Cherizier and his group to surrender or face full force.
The team, comprising military personnel from different countries including Kenya said they have intensified operations in parts of Port-au-Prince targeting the gangs’ strongholds.
“MSS issues a stern warning to gang leaders: surrender now or face the inevitable force that will strike them sooner than anticipated,” read part of MSS statement.
Additionally, the security team disclosed that on Monday November 25, 2024, they saw Barbecue accompanied by about 30 gang members as they continued with the operation.
“They were attempting to advance in two groups of about 15 members each, targeting Delmas two and six,” the team noted.
“The MSS/PNH teams responded swiftly with proportionate firepower, forcing the gang members to retreat in disarray and shock.”
According to MSS, several casualties were reported among the gang members, and that some allegedly hesitated to obey orders from Barbecue.
Meanwhile, MSS and Haiti police continued with patrols in Carrefour Paye, Route coloniale, Bois dutre jette, Fosse cheval, Alee nan parent, Ale pe josephat, Villard, Lestere and Liancourt.
At the same time, residents helped the security team to fill up potholes along Route Coloniale at Carrefour Paye, which was impassable and even difficult for farmers to transport their farm produce to markets.
