Police in Rongai, Nakuru County, have arrested a suspected serial killer linked to a spate of murders and rape incidents in the area.

19-year-old Ezekiel Kwame Mwangi, who has been on the authorities’ radar, was arrested by officers from Baraka Police Station.

Police believe the teenage suspect is the mastermind behind several heinous crimes.

For instance, police say that on July 14, 2024, Mwangi defiled and murdered five-year-old Alice Ayuma Blessing, dumping her body in a maize plantation in Mwangaza area.

On August 7, 2024, in Kalyet area, police report that Mwangi killed 34-year-old Mueni Mwalimu by striking her on the head with a blunt object and stabbing her in the stomach.

“The following day, on August 8, 2024, at Mustard Seed in Kiamunyi, along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, Mwangi allegedly raped and murdered 28-year-old Moraa Mugambi by hitting her on the head with a rungu,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations reports.

The suspect is currently in custody at Menengai Police Station, pending arraignment.
