Taylor Swift officially endorses Kamala Harris for 2024: ‘We need calm, not chaos’

Taylor Swift has officially voiced her support for Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race, ending months of speculation about her political stance.

Swift took to Instagram to share her endorsement shortly after Harris’ debate with Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, urging fans to do their research and vote wisely.

The pop superstar emphasized her commitment to supporting Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, stating,

“I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe in.

She is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and we need calm, not chaos, in this country.” Swift also praised Walz for his long-standing advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and reproductive health.

Swift’s post follows concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence after a fake AI video of her endorsing Trump circulated online.

The incident pushed Swift to publicly clarify her stance, stating, “The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth. I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”

Having been historically quiet about politics, Swift became more vocal in 2018 and has since aligned herself with Democratic values.

Her 2020 documentary Miss Americana revealed her desire to be on “the right side of history.”

Swift Encourages Voter Engagement

Alongside her endorsement, Swift encouraged her followers to participate in the election process.

“Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make,” she said, urging first-time voters to register early and make their voices heard.

While some critics, including Trump, have dismissed Swift’s influence, her loyal fanbase, known as Swifties, has been politically active in recent elections.

A group called Swifties for Kamala has emerged in support of Harris, raising significant funds for the campaign and mobilizing young voters.
