A teacher committed suicide in Embu County on Wednesday February February 7, 2024 after he was rejected by his lover.
The young teacher explained in a suicide note that he could not imagine seeing the beautiful girl fall in love with another man.
He further explained in the note that he wanted his burial to be conducted on Valentines Day, February 14.
“Just decided to rest in peace. I have tried all means but it has been in vain,” read part of suicide note.
“I have pleaded with her but all has fallen on deaf ears,” he added.
The deceased had also indicated the contacts of his lover in the note, while requesting that she should be contacted and be given the role of reading the eulogy during his burial.
Meanwhile, the late teacher urged his family members to search for a child he had sired with a different woman in the neighboring village.
He instructed elders of his clan to ensure his property is handed over to his child.
In addition, he left behind a photo to be used for the burial program with names of two members of the Meru county assembly as leaders of his funeral committee.
According to the police report, the teacher died of suicide as a result of depression.
This was after the deceased mentioned in the note that he sought assistance from several people to help him resolve issues with his lover without success.
Police also urged members of the public to always seek professional guidance of psychologists, doctors or councilors to help in solving relationship or marriage disputes.
At the same time, the police urged residents to get help from Kenya Red Cross, adding that suicide was a criminal offence according to the law.
