Tems crowned Africa’s best-selling female artist with 20 million sold

Nigerian music sensation Temilade Openiyi, famously known as Tems, has officially become Africa’s top-selling female artist, amassing a staggering 20 million units sold worldwide.

Her distinctive, soul-stirring voice has not only conquered the charts but also rewritten the history books, solidifying her place as a global music icon.

Leading her list of smash hits is ‘Wait for U’, her Grammy-winning collaboration with Future and Drake, which alone has sold 8 million units worldwide.

Following closely behind is the chart-topping remix of Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ featuring Justin Bieber, racking up 6 million units and counting.

From Breakout Hits to Global Domination

Tems’ solo success is just as impressive. Her breakout anthem ‘Free Mind’ from the 2020 EP For Broken Ears has moved 2.3 million certified units, while ‘Higher’ from the same project has surpassed 1.255 million.

Her U.S. presence continues to grow, with ‘Found’, featuring Brent Faiyaz, hitting the 1 million mark in America alone.

Her 2023 track ‘Me & U’ is already nearing 800,000 units, and her sleeper-hit EP For Broken Ears has sold 500,000 units in the U.S. alone.

Fan favorites like ‘Damages’ (240,000 units), ‘Replay’ (500,000 units), and new releases like ‘Move’ (500,000 units) and ‘Burning’ (100,000 units) continue to cement her dominance.

With a relentless rise and unstoppable momentum, Tems is proving she’s not just leading Africa’s music scene—she’s owning the world stage.
