Ten (10) people have been seriously injured after a light aircraft they were travelling in crashed before bursting into flames in Kiunga, Lamu County.
The 5Y-GOK Cesna 208 plane had just took off when the mishap occured. Reports indicate that as it was ascending from the Kiunga Airstrip, it hit electricity poles before crashing.
The ten people on board the aircraft at the time of accident include; two pilots, seven (7) army officers and one police officer.
The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals even as investigations begin in earnest to establish the cause of the plane crash.
Armistice Security Consult International (ASCI) says the plane is operated by the Kenyan government through the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
