Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has condemned the attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during a church service at Kasarani PCEA Church.
In a statement on Sunday April 6, 2025 at night, Kalonzo termed the attack a national shame and questioned why anyone would take violence to a place of worship.
“The attack on Second Deputy President Rigathi at Kasarani PCEA Church, Mwiki was a national shame. We call out these militia as workers of inequity and servants of the devil. Why would you commit violence in Church?” Kalonzo stated.
This was after chaos erupted on Sunday at PCEA Mwiki, when hired goons attempted to disrupt a church service attended by Gachagua.
The disturbance occurred shortly after Gachagua and his entourage arrived for the Sunday service as the group attempted to storm the church.
During the attack, Gachagua was shielded by his security team, who fired gunshots in the air to disperse the attackers.
Despite the tense moments, calm was restored as police dispersed the group, allowing the church service to continue.
Speaking after the chaos, Gachagua questioned the motive of the attack, saying it should not happen at this age.
“I don’t understand why goons were sent to attack us during a church service. I don’t want to speak much right now because I have an interview tomorrow, and I have things to say,” the former DP said.
In addition, the former DP alleged that the attack was part of efforts seeking to ensure he has no freedom of movement and consultations with his supporters.
