The highly anticipated rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, set for December 21st in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, willl be officiated by a fourth AI judge.
Chairman of the Saudi Arabia General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalshikh, via his X account, wrote, “For the first time ever, an AI-powered judge will monitor the fight.”
In an experiment by The Ring Magazine, a fourth AI-powered judge will officiate the match but won’t affect the ruling of the three judges.
“Free from bias and human error, brought to you by The Ring. This groundbreaking experiment, which won’t impact the official results, debuts during the biggest fight of the century, #Usyk2Fury, on December 21,” said Turki Alalshikh.
Boxing fans are strongly backing this move that will save the sport from sketchy decisions witnessed in the past.
In the inaugural bout between Fury and Usyk, the boxers finished all 12 rounds needing the judges score at the end.
With the final scorecards reading 115-112 for Usyk, 114-113 for Fury, and 114-113 for Usyk, the hotly contested bout ended in a split decision.
At the rematch, the Gipsy King will have the opportunity to exact revenge for Usyk’s May loss, which was his first in his professional career.
The gipsy King, Tyson Fury, promised a knockout in the rematch, claiming he was too cautious in the first fight.
“I’ve always been a bad man my whole life, and I’m still one today at nearly 40 years old, a few years off 40,” he said.
“I’m going to go in there with destroy mode. Last time, I went to box him, I was being cautious,” he added.
