The Nairobi garbage problem linger since time immemorial.

Examples of neglected garbage spots are in the Kawangware Msalaba area and the Dandora garbage disposal area.

Locals from Kawangware in Dagoretti North constituency have raised concerns regarding their health situation due to uncollected garbage.

A foul stench accompanied by a huge pile of waste is what serenades the small town as you glide through the traffic.

Years back, the Nairobi Metropolitan Services found ways to win hearts of the locals but failed to prioritize the solid waste management.

This is after months of concerns that have been echoed by area residents without action being taken.

The waste situation in Nairobi is hindering a lot of business ventures.

Businesses operators are being forced to operate under the unpleasant environment.

Children however, are now limited to engage in physical activities since organic waste is all over the localities.

Despite efforts to encourage reuse, recycling and recovery, the amounts of solid waste remains high and has risen throughout the years.

Garbage collection and disposal is a major threat to Nairobi governance.

Among the proper mechanisms to be explored, would be to renew contracts of garbage collectors and ensure that garbage trucks are serviced in time.
