In the adrenaline-fueled world of motorsports, where speed, skill, and endurance define greatness, one team is making history in the 2025 rally season. Led by the fearless Pauline Shegu and her co-driver Ayuko, this determined all-female team is proving that rally racing is not just a man’s sport. With every sharp turn, every dust-filled track, and every challenge they conquer, they are breaking barriers and redefining the role of women in rally racing—one race at a time.

A Childhood Surrounded by Motorsport

It had always been a part of her life. Motorsport, filled with roaring engines and cheering crowds, had surrounded her from a young age. Her parents, both passionate rally enthusiasts, had made sure she and her sister attended every event. At first, she had remained indifferent, watching from the sidelines as others took the wheel.

However, everything had changed in 2022, when she had been 17 years old. That year, she had decided to step into the driver’s seat for the first time. The thrill of controlling a car, the rush of speed, and the challenge of maneuvering tight corners had instantly drawn her in. From that moment, she had never looked back.

Her journey had started in a buggy, before progressing to a Toyota Levin. Now, she had found herself behind the wheel of a Subaru Impreza GC, a machine she had grown to admire for its power, control, and precision.

Overcoming Setbacks and Learning from Mistakes

Like every rally driver, challenges had been faced along the way. One of the most unforgettable moments had occurred in an autocross event after the WRC. While driving the Toyota Levin, a costly mistake had been made. A corner had been approached too fast, and before a correction could be made, the car had clipped a bank. The impact had sent it rolling three times.

Frustration had been immediate, as the mistake had been clear. She had known exactly what had gone wrong. However, instead of allowing the setback to define her, a different path had been chosen. The experience had been used as a lesson. Training had intensified, techniques had been refined, and mental strength had been reinforced.

A Historic Team Making a Statement

This season, history has been written with the formation of the only all-lady team in the 2025 rally season. Motorsport, long dominated by men, has been experiencing a shift. More women have been stepping into leadership roles, taking control of powerful rally machines, and proving that skill and determination are not limited by gender.

The team has been composed of strong, talented women, each bringing unique expertise to the table. The goal has never been to simply participate, but to compete at the highest level. The mission has been clear: to challenge expectations, set new records, and leave an impact on the sport.

Preparation and Performance Enhancement

As the season has approached, preparations have been in full swing. Skills have been sharpened, teamwork has been strengthened, and the car’s performance has been fine-tuned. A recent engine upgrade had been carried out, followed by rigorous testing to ensure maximum efficiency. While initial results had been promising, adjustments have continued to be made, ensuring that every ounce of power has been optimized for the upcoming races.

Being part of KCB, it is an incredible opportunity. Competing alongside some of the country’s best drivers has provided both a challenge and an inspiration. The environment has been competitive yet motivating, pushing the team to continuously improve and prove their capability.

Inspiring Future Generations

Beyond the thrill of racing, the bigger picture has never been lost. The journey has been about more than personal achievement—it has been about paving the way for future generations of female racers. It has been hoped that young girls, watching from the sidelines, will be encouraged to dream bigger and believe in their place in motorsports.

The road to success has not been without obstacles, but dedication, perseverance, and the right team have made every challenge worth facing. The 2025 season has been seen as an opportunity to make history, compete fiercely, and break stereotypes.
