Peter Okoye, one-half of the iconic duo P-SQUARE, has poured his heart out in an open letter to his brother, Paul Okoye.
Addressing the deep rift that has been growing between them.
Known as Mr. P, expressed his disappointment and sadness over the constant belittling and disrespect he has endured from Paul, also known as Rudeboy, despite their shared history and success as a group.
Peter began by emphasizing that he had never seen himself in competition with Paul or anyone else.
Yet, the numerous interviews where Paul discredits Peter’s contributions to P-SQUARE have taken a toll on him.
Paul has repeatedly claimed to have written and sung 99% of their songs, even going so far as to label the song “EjeaJo,” which Peter wrote, as a failure.
Peter pointed out that Paul never acknowledged their other hits like “Get-Squared,” “Bizzy Body,” and “Personally,” which were also the result of their joint efforts.
Peter lamented how he always speaks of P-SQUARE as a team, using “we” and “us,” while Paul consistently uses “I” and “me,” making Peter feel invisible.
P-Square real beef
He reminded Paul that their success was not due to any one person but the unique magic that came from their combined efforts.
P-Square was special because of their unity and the way they complemented each other, something that their fans deeply appreciated.
Peter also expressed his frustration at how Paul, instead of working together to reclaim their number one spot in the music industry, has teamed up with their older brother, Jude, to marginalize and humiliate him.
Despite all this, Peter has always praised Paul’s songwriting ability and acknowledged the contributions of others who have written for them.
However, he feels that Paul has found satisfaction in undermining him at every turn.
Peter concluded by asking Paul if their solo efforts, as Mr. P and Rudeboy, have matched the success they had as P-Square.
Peter’s message to his twin
He questioned what Paul truly gains by constantly disrespecting him and trying to turn their fans against him.
Despite the hurt, Peter wished Paul nothing but the best.
Further, he expressed his hope that they could one day find a way to heal the wounds that had divided them.
In this heartfelt letter, Peter Okoye not only laid bare his feelings but also highlighted the importance of unity, respect, and the bond that once made P-Square an unstoppable force in the music world.
