The rich also cry, Runda residents face power blackout for 8 hours

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced an upcoming eight-hour blackout for leafy suburb residents of Runda.

The scheduled maintenance work will impact Runda Evergreen Estate, Runda Meadows, Duom Palm Street, and several other areas in the city.

Additionally, the blackout will also extend to four counties: Bomet, Kiambu, Trans Nzoia, and Nyeri.

KPLC Bomet Blackouts

In Bomet, the affected areas include Bingwa, Kataret, Chebunyo, Labotiet, Tenwek Hospital, Kaboson, Emarti, Chepalungu TTI.

More areas to be affected include Fairmount Hotel, Ntulele, Lalela, Kabolecho, Kiprturgut, Kapkulumben, Tilangok, Mogor, Lelbarak, Kiproroget, and more.

The power interruption will last from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm making it an entire day affair.

Trans Nzoia Blackouts

In Trans Nzoia, affected locations are Gumo Farm, Molem, Kimwondo, Elgon Tea, Muroki, Saboti, Gitwamba, Soy Mining, and Bull Station.

More locations include Sabwani ADC, Kapkoi, Katuke, and adjacent customers. The outage will last for 6 hours.

Nyeri Outage

Moreover, Nyeri will experience interruptions in Gikororo, Kahuru Mkt, Ndima T/Factory, Kiaruhiu, Gathaithi, Mathia, Canteen, Gitangaruri, Ndima Kanini, Kahuro TBC, Ndiriti, Kiang’ombe, Gathambi, Muragara, Kanyai TBC, Kiambagathi, Mihuru TBC, Mununga.

Additionally, the power outage will also affect adjacent customers in the neighbouring regions

KPLC Kiambu outage

Not left out, Kiambu County will also be impacted, affecting Ngethu Lower Camp, Ngorongo, Kamwangi, Karuri and Igegania Hospital.

More areas around Kimabu include Nyamathumbi, Mitero, Mukurwe, Kangoo, Gathaite, Mbici, Kanjuku, Kagumoini, Ruburi, Ritho and Icaciri.

The blackout comes at a time when Kenya Power has been intensifying efforts to combat the vandalism of electricity transformers.

Recent police actions have led to the arrest of individuals believed to be responsible for widespread blackouts in Murang’a and Nyeri counties.

This maintenance comes against the backdrop of a recent national power outage which led to the restructuring of the power sector.
