Not only that but she’s the sole survivor from Spain of the early 1900s.

Living in a care home since 2000, Maria remains grateful for the well-wishes pouring in on her special day.

Her nursing home director, Eva Carrera Boix shares, “She is happy to celebrate this special day intimately with her family and colleagues and wishes everyone a happy Monday.”

Despite facing challenges, Maria persevered after a tragic event during her voyage, leaving her deaf in one ear. Soon after arriving in Spain, she lost her father.

Undeterred, Maria married in 1931, had three children, and later became a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving COVID-19 at 113, she recovered, marking another milestone by receiving both vaccine doses in January 2021.

Maria Branyas Morera’s journey is a testament to strength, resilience, and a life well-lived. As she celebrates 117 remarkable years, her story continues to inspire generations.
