In what is becoming a worrying trend, another school bus has been involved in an accident, this time Thika High School bus.
During the Saturday morning incident, traffic came to a stand still along Thika Super Highway after a Public Service Vehicle rammed into Thika High School bus along Kuraiha/Mang’u High School footbridge.
Based on photos shared on social media, the school bus which had students on board, appeared minimally damaged on the rear side.
The PSV however had its dashboard badly damaged, although no fatalities were reported.
Students aboard the bus were also said to be alive and in good condition.
Locals rushed to the scene attempting to save the situation which was luckily not a fatal one.
The PSV was towed allowing smooth flow of traffic along the busy highway.
This comes days after Moi University bus was involved in an accident at Kimende along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
Moi University Vice Chancellor Prof Isaac Koskei noted in a statement that the students who were involved in the accident were from the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Kiswahili.
“I am relieved to inform you that there were no casualties or fatalities, and all students are safe,” he added.
As a precautionary measure, the VC suspended all academic trips at the university until after the Easter Holidays.
“In light of this incident, I urge all Drivers and road users to exercise extra caution during the Easter Holidays,” he added.
The cause of the accident is yet to be known but police have launched investigations into the matter.
Two weeks ago, a Kenyatta University bus was involved in an accident at Maungu in Voi, Taita Taveta County on March 18.
11 students died in the Kenyatta University bus accident while 26 others were seriously injured.
Students who were injured during the accident were transferred to hospitals in Nairobi for specialized treatment.
