Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba has come to the aid of a family in Kinangop, Nyandarua County whose kin was killed in Thika, Kiambu County.
MP Wamuchomba paid a visit to the distraught mother, mama Nduati, at her rented home in Kinangop. The family is holding daily meetings as funeral arrangements are being made.
Her son, David Nduati, was shot dead in Thika’s Kiganjo Market on Friday, May 24 during an altercation involving legislators and Kamenu Ward Representative.
On that day, Kamenu Ward Rep Peter Mburu had his supporters turn up ready to tackle Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a who was also accompanied by traders. The two were in a tussle over allocation of market space even as construction progresses.
MP Ng’ang’a was flanked by colleagues Kimani Ichung’wah, Elijah Njoroge, GG Kagombe and Ngoliba Ward MCA Joachim Njama. Ng’ang’a insisted the project was funded by national gov’t while the MCA maintained it was a county project.
In the melee, one boda boda rider who has since been identified as David Nduati was shot using a stray bullet.
His colleague, Anthony Kamau, survived but still has a bullet lodged in his chest. He is current in hospital awaiting surgery.
“Nduati’s death is surrounded by political mischief and cover ups that may deny this family justice,” she added.
She urged Inspector of General of Police Japheth Koome to intervene seeing as there were suspicions in how investigations are being handled.
“We agreed to give DCI Team (one week) time to do their investigations which as at today seems shrouded with dubious excuses. My visit to the family this evening reveals much that demands answers from the Investigation team,” Wamuchomba added.
So far, MPs who were at the scene Alice Ng’ang’a and Elijah Njoroge have been grilled by DCI and surrendered their licensed firearms for ballistic analysis.
