This did not happen even during late Moi’s regime! Raila breathes fire over demolitions

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has strongly condemned the recent demolitions in the Milimani Estate of Kakamega County, which took place to make way for an affordable housing project.

During his visit to the county on Friday, December 1, 2023, Raila expressed his disapproval of the demolitions, which affected individuals like Lurambi MP Bishop Titus Khamala.

“This is an act of bestiality that has been meted against our people of Kakamega. It is terrible that this should be happening under a government that came to power promising that it is going to be pro-people. We condemn this in the strongest terms possible,” he stated.

The opposition leader characterized the demolitions as inhumane, emphasizing that such actions were not witnessed even during the reign of the late retired President Daniel arap Moi.

According to Raila, despite the darkest of days witnessed during Moi’s era, President William Ruto’s administration seems to be worse than Moi’s.

“Even during the darkest days of Moi’s dictatorship, we never witnessed a thing like this here. If you know you are doing the right thing, you come during the day with your papers and show it to residents,” said the former Prime Minister.

Raila emphasized that the Kenya Kwanza government must compensate the homeowners who suffered losses amounting to millions of shillings after their properties were destroyed.

Additionally, the opposition honcho pledged to provide a donation of 300,000 Kenyan shillings to a widow in the posh estate whose house was demolished by the bulldozers.
