Three arrested, 20 donkey carcasses recovered in Runyenjes

Police in Runyenjes, Embu County have arrested three persons who were busted slaughtering donkeys in Kajekeru village.

Officers from Runyenjes Police Station and DCI Embu East raided the homestead early Friday, December 22 at around 1:30am, and found 20 freshly-slaughtered donkey carcasses.

“Upon encounter, the men armed with crude weapons attempted an attack on the officers prompting them to fire warning shots in the air,” says the National Police Service (NPS).

Apart from the carcasses, police say they found three pangas, 12 knives, one bow and 6 arrows. A Toyota Noah of registration number KDD 782T was also found at the scene.

The persons arrested have since been identified as Stanley Thuranira, 25, George Maringa, 28, and Anastacia Wanyanga.

“The National Police Service commends the members of public for their continued partnership by sharing information,” the NPS adds.
