Three Burundians arrested with over 55 ‘stolen’ mobile phones in Kisii

Police in Kisii Town have arrested three Burundi nationals and more than 55 mobile phones believed to have been stolen recovered.

The three were arrested at a rented house within Nyankongo area after officers from Kisii Central Police Station, acting on intelligence, laid an ambush on them.

Police say the three Burundian suspects conspire with locals who steal and deliver the mobile phones.

Those arrested include; Birori Benard, 31, Bismana Alain, 36, and Kibwe Imana, 34.

An inventory was taken and the mobile phones were kept as exhibit. The suspects were detained… pending arraignment in court to answer to charges of stealing and handling suspected stolen goods,” a report filed at Kisii Central Police Station on Thursday, May 23 reads in part.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects conspire with locals who steal and deliver the mobile phones mostly from the clients of M-Kopa Safaricom.
