Three cattle thieves killed by mob in Bondo

Three suspected thieves at Okanda village in Bondo were lynched and others seriously injured after they were caught slaughtering a stolen cow in a bush.

Among the deceased are David Haya (butcher), Paul Otieno Wauda, and Walori Oyato.

The area Assistant Chief Dennis Ojwang said there has been a lot of cattle theft in the area which made the residents furious.

“They were found having slaughtered a cow suspected to have been stolen, belonging to Monica Olulo, a resident of the same village,” said Ojwang.

The residents allegedly hunted down the cattle thieves and beat them to death after ambushing them in a bush.

The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Bondo sub-county hospital while bodies of the three were moved to the mortuary at the same facility.

A tuk-tuk meant for transporting the meat was found in the bush.

The Assistant Chief Mr Dennis Ojwang has cautioned the public against taking the law into their own hands.

He urged residents to always report suspected criminals to the police, to ensure they are charged in court.
