Three people have been confirmed dead following a tragic accident in Nyalkinyi on the Homa Bay-Kendu Bay Road on Thursday, August 1.
Confirming the incident, Homa Bay County Police Commander Hassan Barua said the accident occured when a bodaboda rider collided head-on with a vehicle.
The accident occurred when the bodaboda rider attempted to overtake a vehicle ahead. In the process, the rider collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
The bodaboda rider and one of his two pillion passengers died on the spot. The second passenger died while undergoing treatment at Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Commander Barua expressed his condolences and urged bodaboda riders to exercise extreme caution while overtaking other motorists.
He emphasized the importance of adhering to the 70-meter rule on the roads and advised riders to carry only one passenger at a time to ensure safety.
