Three people have escaped death by a whisker after a lorry they were travelling in plunged into River Ena along the busy Embu-Meru Highway in Embu County.
Reports indicate that the driver of the lorry that was carrying cement was trying to avoid hitting another lorry that drove to the highway without giving way to the oncoming traffic.
Confirming the incident, Embu County Police Commander Nicholas Maina said the victims — two men and a woman — have been taken to Tenri Ena Hospital for treatment.
Eye witnesses says they responded to a loud bang and pulled the occupants from the lorry that was already submerged halfway into the flooded river.
