Three Kabarak University students arrested over murder case

Three students are being detained at Menengai police station for allegedly killing a Kabarak University nursing student on Friday, January 26, 2024.

Twenty-three-year-old Derrick Malumasa was found lying along Nakuru-Mogotio road near Kampi Ya Moto trading centre with stab wounds in the stomach.

His body was discovered by his schoolmates who rushed him to Kabarak University Health Centre, where he died upon arrival.

According to police report, Malumasa was killed around the school, and his body dragged to Kampi Ya Moto trading centre.

Detectives who revisited the scene stated that there were no bloodstains or signs of struggle at the location.

The suspects will be arraigned in court on Monday, January 29, to finalize the investigations.

The other students want the security personnel to ensure justice for the deceased.

Other Murder Cases

Recently, police in Machakos detained two university students, allegedly for killing their fellow female student on Monday night, January 11th.

Machakos sub-county police commander Emmanuel Okanda said the body of the education student was found lying inside his house at Diaspora rentals.

The body of the deceased had injuries on the head, with blood oozing from her ears, nose, and mouth.

“On Tuesday, we received a report that there was a body belonging to a Machakos University student lying inside a house at Diaspora rentals a few kilometers south of the station.”

“We established that the deceased’s hands were tied from behind using shoelaces,” Okanda said.”

The police report states that the deceased’s boyfriend was among the suspects in the murder.

The deceased’s body was moved to Machakos Level 5 Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
